SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

The atmosphere of River School is intimate, engaging, open and cozy.

The classrooms are home-like and set up to support imaginative play, learning and the creative process. The balance of loose parts play areas, the maker’s table and open-ended play nooks invites children to choose what they feel drawn to in the given moment.

The children practice yoga and mindfulness weekly with Ms. Lenora, a certified iRest Yoga instructor, with her incredible gift for connecting with children and guiding them through explorations of their strong bodies and the power of their breaths (love bubbles are given generously!).

River is also home to Kat Gillie’s Bread and Roses Art Collective, a studio where the children’s artistic spirits sore. They use the pottery wheel, and work with many mediums such as fabric, paint, clay, and items from nature to create magical murals and cherished pieces.

Ms. Kat also teaches River kids all about the history of art, the importance of community, and provides unique art experiences that directly tie in to what we are learning in the classroom and outdoors!

For our Intro to School and Preschool classes, we have an outdoor play space adjacent to the school.

We also have a lil garden area where we have fun… seasonally tending to the flowers and veggies.

Our older Pre-K students walk to the Royal River Park for daily outside adventures throughout the entire year in sun, rain, and snow.

We hold a license in childcare and therefore comply with state safety regulations.

Please note that we have been a nut-free facility in the past, but this is subject to change from year to year depending on our current students and allergies in the classroom.
